We started working on our small vineyard in 2020. Research, preparing, planning, working the soil and planting a little over 300 vines. We selected 4 grape varieties for our vineyard that are best suited to our warm climate, Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chenin Blanc and Grenache Blanc as a start for our Vines. Giving us the ability to use the vines as a backdrop for weddings, events, concerts and parties. Growth of the vines has been very nice, and we expect to have our first batch of wine (after aging) available sometime late in 2025.
Following is a result of our research in developing our Vineyard.
We have started a Backyard Vineyard and this is our journey, the hurdles, triumphs and disappointments in starting your own vineyard, growing your own grapes and drinking your own wine. We will show everything from Planning and Prep, Irrigation Installation, Building a trellis, Planting the Vines, canopy management, harvesting and bottling. Our Channel will provide videos that are more like trial-and-error videos with many information videos as we do our research and create our Backyard Vineyard. We hope you subscribe and enjoy the Channel. Click and Subscribe to Follow out Journey - @Gavilan Hills Vineyard
